David Green

David Green is the Founder and Executive Director of Musical Theatre University, a comprehensive training ground for young people with aspirations for careers in professional theatre. His alumni include Tony Winners Steohanie J Block (Falsettos and The Cher Show) and Lindsay Mendez (Carousel and Merrily We Roll Along), Tony Nominees Matthew Morrison (TV’s “GLEE” and “The Light In The Piazza”) and Susan Egan (“Beauty and the Beast”) ,  Krysta Rodriguez (First Date” and “The Addams Family”), Anneliese VanDerPol (“Vanities”, “Beauty And The Beast” and TV’s “That’s So Raven”), Grace McClean (Natasha/Pieree and Bad CInderalla), Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian and  The Last OF Us) and many more. He was the founder of The California Conservatory of the Arts and co-founder of The Orange County School of the Arts. 

Mr. Green has staged and directed over 200 musical and theatrical productions for both educational and professional theatre and worked with stars ranging from Debbie Reynolds, John Raitt, Betty Garrett, Davis Gaines, Stephanie Zimbalist, Carol Burnett, Rachel York, Carol Cook, JoAnne Worley, Rex Smith, Carol Channing, Bruce Vilanch, Bob Hope and Liberace. He has written and directed seven PBS television specials and served as the Artistic Director for the State of California Department of Education’s Distinguished School Awards for ten years. He co-created and developed the nationally acclaimed Fashion Island Tree Lighting Ceremony in Newport Beach, CA which has grown to an event with an audience of over 25,000 patrons annually. He has staged and directed multiple staged reading of new musicals in both New York and Los Angeles.

Mr, Green is the Regional Editor for Broadway World, the nation’s leading and largest online publication on professional theatre, and he hosts a weekly radio show called Front Row Center and. He served as a Director for the internationally acclaimed Young Americans before his work with the various schools of the arts. At the 2017 Tony Awards he was named one of the top theatre edcuators in America by The Broadway League and Carnegie Mellon University.

The music was rooted in American popular culture, but performed with a style that now seems timeless. When "Tom Dooley" went Gold in 1958, the folk revival was born, setting the stage for Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul & Mary, The Byrds and the protest movement of the 60s.

Through the generosity of Tim and Barbara Arnstein, the McCallum Theatre presents humorist Jeanne Robertson on Friday, November 20, at 8:00pm. Jeanne Robertson charms audiences with her humorous observations about life around her. This former Miss North Carolina, standing tall at 6'2", has an infectious personality and sense of humor. Jeanne achieved national attention after a handful of humorous clips from her talks became viral videos in 2009.  With seven DVDs, three books and more than 18 million YouTube hits, the demand for Jeanne's family friendly and engaging brand of comedy has grown exponentially. Her anecdotes air regularly on satellite radio comedy channels including XM Radio's Laugh USA - The Family Comedy Channel. Some of her most popular anecdotes include 'Don't Go to Vegas Without A Baptist,' 'Don't Bungee Jump Naked' and 'Don't Send a Man to the Grocery Store.'  Her witty depiction of everyday situations never fails to have audiences of all ages rolling with laughter.

The COPA Palm Springs presents funny lady Sarah Colonna for one very special performance on Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 pm. Sarah is well known as a popular roundtable regular on the hit late night talk show “Chelsea Lately.” She also served as a full time writer on “Chelsea Lately,” as well as a producer, writer and star of the show's spin-off scripted series “After Lately.”She was recently seen in Michael Rosenbaum's new movie “Back in the Day,” alongside Rosenbaum, Nick Swardson, Harland Williams, Morena Baccarin and many others.  She's also recently appeared in Diablo Cody's “Paradise,” CBS' “Battle Creek,” and “Killing Hasselhoff” with Ken Jeong. Her first book, “Life as I Blow it,” debuted at number 5 on the New York Times Bestseller list, followed with a sold out book tour in several major cities in the country. I had the chance to chat with Ms. Colonna for a few minutes as she was preparing for her stint at The COPA. Here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

CHARLES BUSCH, author and star of such plays as Psycho Beach Party, Times Square Angel, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, You Should Be So Lucky, Shanghai Moon and The Divine Sister brings his iconic Cabaret stylings to The COPA Palm Springs for two 'sure to be sell-out' performances, October 16 and 17 at 8:00 pm. His most recent plays are Judith of Bethulia, produced at Theater for the New City in 2012 and The Tribute Artist, which reunited him with Julie Halston, produced by Primary Stages Theatre Company in 2014. In 2003, Mr. Busch received a special Drama Desk Award for career achievement as both performer and playwright and was honored with a star on the Playwrights Walk outside the Lucille Lortel Theatre. I had the chance to catch up with Mr. Busch as he was preparing fort his cabaret performances this week in San Diego and Palm Springs. Here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

Pippin and Next To Normal's Kyle Dean Massey headlines The Copa Palm Springs for one very special performance, October 9, at 8 pm in an intimate Cabaret that features "songs he loves but he's never had the opportunity to sing". Massey first joined the North American touring production of Wicked in 2007, as part of the ensemble and understudy for the lead role of Fiyero, before joining the Broadway production. He played Thalia in Broadway's Xanadu and Matthew in Off-Broadway's Altar Boyz as well as the role of Gabe in the Broadway musical Next to Normal, staying with the show until it closed in January 2011. He then returned to Broadway's Wicked in the leading role of Fiyero and  assumed the title role in the Broadway revival of Pippin.He was also featured in a recurring role as openly gay country star Kevin Bicks in the ABC television series Nashville. I had the chance to chat with Kyle as he was preparing for his Copa Concert, Here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

Daniel Tosh, host of the Comedy Central series "Tosh.0,' will perform at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, CA on Sunday October 11, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with special guests.  All proceeds from this performance will go to various charities. Tosh's first big career break came in 2001 with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman.
