Last night I walked into the beautiful McCallum Theatre with tremendous anticipation of a stirring and insightful evening --- the opportunity to have a "Conversation With Larry King". You would think that a man who has spent the past several decades talking with the most fascinating and important people in politics and pop culture would have had more to say. I am sad to say, I was disappointed.

Last weekend's 75 mile per hour winds may have left the roof of The McCallum Theatre intact, but the electrifying production of BLAST! just might do the trick! The sheer energy of this Tony-Award (2001 Tony Award For "Best Special Theatrical Event) and Emmy-Award (2001 Emmy Award For "Best Choreography" For A Prime Time Show) winning musical spectacular is difficult to put into words - even for a man who makes his living putting things into words. Let me start by saying, if you have plans you can change -- run over to the McCallum Theatre and snatch up the few remaining seats for this limited engagement. It is sure to be one of the most exciting evenings you will spend in the theatre. Guaranteed!

The Las Vegas Hotel and Casino has announced its exciting Spring Season, ranging from Liza Minnelli and Chicago to Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show and 'The King' starring Trent Carlini. Billed as 'The last remaining great showroom in Las Vegas', the 1,700-seat LVH theater will be home to headline entertainers and Broadway shows, while the smaller Shimmer Cabaret will feature more intimate theatrical events and musicals.

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) has announced the MIFT's Short Subjects Theatre Festival, now in its fourth season. The MITF Short Subjects are a repertory of plays running from 30 - 60 min. performed in their own intimate venue, with lower participation fees and ticket prices than other plays in the MITF. The Short Subjects is an excellent opportunity to test new theatrical ideas in a less demanding environment than full-length plays in larger venues.

Executive Director Paul Nicholson reported to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival company on March 2 that the organization has received two checks from the Great American Insurance Company for losses sustained from closure of the Angus Bowmer Theatre for six weeks, beginning June 18, 2011, due to a cracked supporting beam.

The Brooklyn Arts Exchange presents Salón by Mariangela Lopez May 11-13 as part of the BAX's Artist-In Residency program. Salón investigates the personas we inhabit in a social event; the struggle and the need to interact with strangers; the urge to see and to be seen; the ways in which we include or exclude ourselves in a social experience. Salón explores the social need of dance, proposing an avenue where we can expose each other, accessing an exchange that is animistic and vital.

Masterworks Broadway will release Liza Minnelli - Live At The Wintergarden on April 23, online, and on May 8 in retail stores. This is the first time this highly acclaimed album has been recorded on CD. The CD features music from her 1974 concerts and includes three 'live' bonus tracks.

According to People.com Tony Award winning actor Dick Van Dyke has tied the knot with 40 year old make-up artist Arlene Silver. Van Dyke, 86, met Silver six years ago at the SAG Awards. They were married on Leap Day.

Long Island resident David Troy joined the cast following the curtain call to call his girlfriend, Dellene Kornitsky on stage. As the audience applauded, Mr. Troy popped the question. Loco7 is celebrating their 25th Anniversary season this year.
